The Curse of the Crying Boy
When a number of fires in the 1980's were blamed on a paining called 'The crying Boy' there were runours of a curse.
Panic ensued when fireman across Britain said they knew of numerous cases where such pictures had been found undamaged in homes destroyed by fire. one newspaper offered to destroy and Crying Boy pictures it received, which resulted in nearly 3000 being sent in by superstitious owners!
Even spookier was the tragic tale behind the paintings creation. the original is believed to be the work of a Spanish artist who had adopted the boy model, an orphan called Don Bonillo, after the childs parents had died in a blaze.
Following a fire at the painters studio, Bonillo ran away, never to be seen again. Some years later in 1976, the driving license of a badly burned Barcelona car crash victim revealed him to be 19 year old Don Bonillo.
With claims that the crying boy paintings continue to behaunted by the spirit of Bonillo the curse remains one of the most talked about mysteries in modern folklore.
